I'm interested in the T540, but not interested in either Windows 8.1 or in Windows 10. Can I get a T540 that has Windows 7?

Asked by: Nels
Yes my uncle recently bought me mine and downloaded windows 7 on it for me. I believe he bought the OS separately though.

How many monitors will support in simultaneous use? Can you have a mini display port and VGA monitor and extend the desktop to both?

i would like to take this laptop to India. Is there any international warranty provided? If so, what is the extra cost? Thanks.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed with newly designed mouse I have been a Thinkpad user since IBM produced their first Thinkpad and have loved the pointing stick 'mouse'. Unfortunately, expecting the same, I purchased the TP-540 which has a good number of features at a very affordable price. However, I returned the product the day I received it - the mouse was completely unusable for me. No matter what settings I made for the Trackpoint, I was unable to use the 'mouse'. My hand had to reach across the pad and required too much pressure and force to get it to click. Very frustrating. Have looked at every new TP and the design is all the same. Sadly, this ends my purchase for the Thinkpad series.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great computer, major issues I've had the computer for about 30 days. I use it everyday for work. I run CAD, excel, email, and internet on the machine, and for those applications it works great. After I got the computer and it downloaded and installed 83 updates from Microsoft, it hasn't been able to shut down without pressing the power button. Then it gives me the "windows did not shut down properly" screen all the time. It also freezes when the screen saver turns on. I can't be without the computer for a day, or I would have sent it back. Not sure if it is your issue, or Microsoft, probably Microsoft. All told, I spend almost $1700 on this laptop, and it's driving me nuts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Too different I don't like the new track pad/buttons "all in one". I don't think I knew that before I bought it and it is confusing. Nor do I like the numbers pad. I know some like it but if you aren't an accountant you don't need it and I'm not...moreover if you aren't used to the keypad being "off center" it is very difficult to get used to. Finally, the "B" key popped off less than a week after I got it. To replace it would have been 5-7 business days. I was sent a new keyboard and then spent $30 to have the keyboard replaced because the link to show me how to do it wasn't functioning. I've had no less than 6 Thinkpads. This one is disappointing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lost respnect on lenovo thinkpads I recent;ly bought this laptop and just opened from the box and used it some time and every thing was fine. After that when I shut down it automatically re starting. I googled about this and found one of the solution to disable the setting wakeup on lan from bios and then it is shutting down fine. I have other think pad which does not have disabled this option and completely working fine. I am not sure why I need to disable this option to shutdown my new t540p. There are so many problem to enter into bios with this laptop. I was clicking F1 and F12 many times and it does not enter into bios. if I try 15 times it goes into bios for 1 time. Hate this laptop.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Forms Destroys Function Although this machine did "blue screen" on its very first boot and the graphics occasionally hang, it is very powerful and well built. However the trackpad's lack of buttons and keyboard's skewed layout make this machine difficult to use quickly... very aggravating if you're trying to build/edit documents/spreadsheets/code/etc. Not good for business at all. If you plan on having this machine docked with an external keyboard and mouse you will be happy, but if you use this as an actual portable piece of equipment you will be frustrated and slowed down until you retrain your hands the handle the un-ergonomic shape and giant combined left/right click button.
