With a name that means �to soar� in Chinese,
it�s not very hard to understand that this young 24-year-old from Shanghai has already achieved so much
in his short career. Currently ranked number 1 in the world, the charismatic Liu Xiang has become a hero
and role model for many people his age. He is the first ever male Chinese athlete to win a gold medal in
Olympic track and field history and he will be defending his title at the forthcoming 2008 Beijing Summer
Olympics.
