The hdd is a 1tb drive with no partitions,so I partitioned it to make the c: drive smaller, mistake, lenovo 1 key recovery no longer worked,so I was left with a machine that no longer booted, after 3 days searching the net to solve it,with many people having the same problem I may add,I had to buy another copy of win 8 and format and reinstall windows ,my warranty will now be void, there was nothing in the manual to tell you not to partition the c: drive, who in there right mind would keep a windows preinstalled pc at 1000gb,if it crashes and you ,have to recover it you lose upto 1 terebyte of info, will never by another lenovo pc until they let you really own the machine,

Easy set up, smart looking computer and very quick.
Wired keyboard and mouse does anybody still use these? It seems very American and the keyboard constantly keeps switching to American English very annoying. If it was try before you buy I would probably have gone for a different option.

    Lenovo H530sAsk an Owner

Here's a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the H530s

    1. mark asked on
i am thinking of putting an nvidia gtx 750ti in here. will i fit and what about a regular sized psu. thanks
      1. Stephen replied on
As for the Graphics Card, yes it will fit, as it is Small Form Factor in size, therefore designed for this type of case. When you say a regular PSU I take it you mean one with a higher power output, There is a "Be Quiet SFX 400 Watt unit, but I would suggest a searching and make sure you include "Small Form Factor" in the search and then check the specifications and you won't go far wrong.
    2. mike asked on
would i be able to upgrade the graphics card in this desktop?
      1. William replied on
yes, the back of the case has two different ports ,one for the intigrated and one for the nvidia card, both wont work at the same time, check with manufacturer before opening the case incase you void the warrenty, google the make and model of the card thats inside, unless your a serious gamer then I doubt you'll need to change it,i have played racedriver grid and ms flight sim with no probs
    3. shopper asked on
Will I be able to set up dual monitor display on this pc
      1. Stephen replied on
Yes, if my memory serves me correctly the answer to this has already been given in the other questons. However, there is a HDMi and VGA port on the graphics card, or get a convertor to split either output to two screens. You CANNOT use the onboard graphics output while a graphics card is fitted.
      2. Brian replied on
    4. Jacob asked on
is any of the hardware intergrated and if so which parts?
      1. William replied on
as far as i'm aware ,only the sound
    5. Bob asked on
Hi, Can anyone tell me the sound capabilities of this machine please as in the description it just says 3.5 jack and that doesn't sound like it would handle surround
      1. Sean replied on
It has a NVIDIA High Definition Audio card installed. There's one 3.5 headphone jack, but a lot of multi-speaker systems seem to use a USB port instead, so any of those should work. I'm just using a monitor with built in speakers via a single HDMI cable, so I haven't needed to use the audio jack for sound.
      2. Stephen replied on
It has just the standard built in sound capabilities from the motherboard. I have mine plugged into a Sony amp and four speakers. But I will say the sound seems ok as I don't use much amplification and I have just the standard settings on the amp as opposed to a previous machine which I had to amplify then adjust all of the settings to get decent sound quality.
    6. Lance asked on
Can this PC run days and video editing from an elgato hd60? Thank you
      1. Stephen replied on
Certainly it is above the minimum specs to run Elgato HD60, and has a HDMI video port so all should be fine
    7. Frustrated PC owner asked on
Im on my second one of these within a week. The problem Im having is the vertical DVD drive. On both computers its struggling to read disks. I really like this pc and would like to keep it. Has anyone else had issued with the dvd drive and how to resolve it?
      1. Eric replied on
        I Havent
    8. A shopper asked on
I notice it is a 1TB drive which I would want to partition, and noticed someone had a problem, is this generic to Lenovo PC's?
      1. Stephen replied on
No, it most certainly is not, I have set up 9 Lenovo machines over the past twelve months and NEVER had the problem described by the other reviewer.

First of all I would install all of the software I need onto the hard drive as it is, and also manually install all of the windows updates so they are completely up to date. I would also remove all of the "Bloatware" that Lenovo so kindly include with their PC's. You then need to set up windows to run exactly as you want it to, in my case this means I disable Libraries and emulate XP by installing Classic Shell, and all other personalization things you like.

I would then download a program called MyDefrag from here:- http://www.mydefrag.com/

It has lots of built in scripts and does a much better job than the windows defragmenter software, especially where disk consolidation is concerned.

At this stage I would make a complete backup to an external Hard drive Just in case.

The next step is to go to Control Panel, System, System Protection, and switch OFF system Restore, set the available disk space for restore points to zero and delete all restore points.

Next access the Advanced tab and select Visual effects settings, then select advanced tab again, you will see a Virtual Memory setting click change, then click NO paging file then click set and you will get a warning about disabling paging file, click Yes on that. You should now see there are no paging files set.

You will then be required to restart the PC.

When rebooted run the Mydefrag program, select "Consolidate free space" and select C: drive, when it has run it will have moved all the files to the front end of the C: drive and you will have the maximum space available to repartition the C: drive.

When complete close, then open Control panel, select Administrative Tools, then Computer Management,Storage, Disk Management. You should then have access to your drives. First you will need to "Shrink" the C drive. Mine I dropped to 60GB, but if you are likely to be loading more software you could leave it larger. Once that is done, you can then create one or even two drives in the available unallocated space. I ignored all of the small partitions created by the installation of windows and the 24.42 GB recovery partition.

I created one drive which I renamed to D: and renamed the DVD drive to G:

The next step is to relocate all the Windows Data files to that new drive so no data is saved on the C:- drive and it remains just for programs and temporary files. I also switched the Paging file back on, but as I never use system recovery I left that off.

To relocate the Windows data files, I create a set of new folders on the new data drive, then go to the C: drive, users, Username folder, then right click each of the windows folders and select properties, then click the location tab and select move, setting the target folder as the new one created on the data drive.

Once complete I again backed everything up to an external drive. I would also sugest defragging the C: drive normally now as compression isn't required anymore.

It is quite a bit of work, but as I said I have done this with 9 Lenovo machines and had absolutely no problem. My son had his machine crash and was able to re-install without any loss of data, which was still intact on the D: drive. Only the windows partition was affected.

      2. William replied on
in reply to Stephen, that may be very well on a machine with normal bios, but not on a UEFI pc,I never new about UEFI as its fairly new,as far as I'm aware its like a os within the bios and is for security purposes ,search for( recovery partition destroyed )for lenovo systems ,as I said on my review I tryed everything over the course of 4-5 days of scouring the net to solve it, eventually I purchased a windows 8.1 disc ,after taking the hdd out and completly formating the onekey partitions one by one and trying to boot after each format with no success I formated the entire hdd back to 1 partition,I stuck it back in the lenovo h530 case and done a complete install with the new win 8 disc, when installed I was waiting for it to ask for the product key, when it didnt, I investigated and found that the oem product key was installed and was already activated, the reason being is that the UEFI Bios stores the key for the oem, it also stores the other files or instructions required when booting it searches for the onekey recovery partition first before it boots any other device ie. USB ,CD, HDD, if you change the partition structure, ie making c: drive smaller, you run the risk of what i went through, search google before you make your mind up,
