    Liverpool GB General home user
very fast, graphics great. Looks awesome
mouse pad is hard to get used to - two fingered scrolling.
Windows version is a nightmare to get used to.
battery only lasts 1:30 hours, but takes 3hrs to charge when using, so have to have it plugged in constantly.
    Fan is very noisy
Fan is exteremely hot and poorly positioned - underneath - so your 'lap' gets hot... in 5 minutes.

  • Ask an Owner

Here's a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Y50

    1. Damian asked on
Can the SSD be easily upgraded?
Is the battery that bad, in terms of casual usage?
Some are saying that it overheats easily, is that true or just over exaggerated?
Lastly, the model Y50 70, says it has a 1920x1080 screen, but in tech specs it says UHD, can you confirm which it is?
      Thanks alot.
      1. Joe replied on
battery is quite poor if you are a gamer you will need to keep it plugged in.. or you can turn the settings down so your not on full beast mode!!! but it will slow the computer down

the fan is badly positioned for a laptop.. its underneath so if you have it on your lap it gets hot - especiallyif wearing shorts!

there are 2 screentypes I believe depending on the model, so better going for a newer model - you will know by the price!
    2. Ethan asked on
I really need a gaming pc as i would like to play games such as World of Warcraft or even CS:GO. Would this laptop be able to run both games??

I would like to ask about warranty. Does lenovo y50 has warranty? I mean I live in uk if something happened to the laptop it is possible to take it to the company in uk to repair it?

      1. Ian replied on
It does come with with a warranty, though unfortunately it has to go all the way to Germany if you need to have it repaired.....
    4. Reece asked on
Will this play world of warcraft?
      1. MATHIAS replied on
Yeah it will run it maxed out at 1080p no problem I don't thing there is a game out there yet that it won't run I basically every new release I play on it is either maxed or high settings on 1080p so you will have a fair few years before the spec of this machine become outdated hope this helped :-)
    5. Aaron asked on
Is it worth getting the y50-70? I am intending to run games such as gtav battlefield and minecraft.
      1. Robert replied on
Yes it will run them games no problem however I did return mine for a full refund as not impressed with the build quality. Got a MacBook Pro in the end.

      1. Ian replied on
If it's in warranty I believe contacting Lenovo customer service will arrange pick up and drop-off to take it to a service centre for repairs.
    7. John asked on
I intend to buy the Y50 with the UHD screen and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GB GPU. How do you think it will fare when I used programs such as the adobe suite and the Autodesk suite (AutoCAD, Revit etc.)?
      1. Kyle replied on
Should do fine, I wouldnt bother with the UHD screen though.
