At present my ability to dim the display is not working and my 3 finger gesture to show me what apps are open has stopped working.

Furthermore, considering the spec of my machine (i7 with 16 Ram), I am finding it very slow.

    ThinkPad X1 CarbonAsk an Owner

Here's a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the X1 Carbon

    1. Ross asked on
My partner is looking at purchasing this laptop, is it capable of running photoshop, lightroom and premier as she is a designer
      1. peter replied on
Mine has i7 and 16GB of RAM so it is certainly powerful enough. I don't know about the scope of the colour calibration controls that I imagine a professional designer would need since my use of Photoshop is at a much simpler level.
      2. Colin replied on
I purchased it to run Autocad and Sketchup and it runs them with no issues. I recently installed the Adobe suite and it runs photoshop and all of the other programs in the full suite so yes it will do exactly what you want. It is also incredibly light with a long lasting battery. A truly excellent computer.
    2. Samm asked on
Is it easy to open it to clean it? With my current Sony Vaio, I can easily swap HDD, CDROM, RAM. It's very easy to clean the Fan and replace the CPU paste. Can I easily access all these with the X1? I travel a lot, and work in dusty environment and need to clean every 3-4 months - many thanks!
      1. Imran replied on
Yes, only 9 screws to remove on the base gives you access to all the internal parts !
      2. JEAN replied on

Well I don't think so, and it's not recommended.
    3. Dominic asked on

Can any tell me if your configuration comes with 1TB HDD and 16GB RAM?
      1. peter replied on
Mine came with no HDD but 256MB SSD and yes, 16GB RAM.

    4. Colin asked on
I purchased a wigi dock to go with my 20FB model but it wont link. Is this just a minor issue or is this incompatible.
      1. Jimmy replied on
Hi, I think for the Wigig dock to work you actually needed to have config'd the Wigig Carbon X1. I have to keep reminding myself of this fact when I periodically think about purchasing the Wigig dock.

More specifically, I think Wigig requires:
        Intel WiGig18260AC 2x2+BT 4.1

        On mine it's:
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC(2x2) 8260, Bluetooth Version 4.1 No vPro

        Hope that helps.
      2. Francesc replied on
I think should work because it is compatible (the Lenovo dock). Sorry but I don't have the dock.
    5. Dino asked on
When ordering the new X1 carbon, we have two keyboard options - difference between the keyboard layouts - English UK & English Euro?
      1. Kathryn replied on
I don't know much about Euro keyboards, but I'd assume they're talking about the usual layout changes you get between the European regions and England. So on the Euro one, the "y" and "z" places are swapped, there are buttons that give you accented letters, etc. If you work in French, German, Spanish etc, I'd go for the Euro one - if you work primarily in English, I'd go for that.
    6. Ewan asked on
I purchased an X1 Carbon a couple of weeks ago and I also purchased a WiGig Dock to use with it. The WiGig documentation states if the software cannot be found on the Thinkpad then it does not support the WiGig. Can you please advise where the software can be found on the X1 Carbon as it does not appear to be there.
      1. Damel replied on
I personally haven't used the WiGig dock, but http://lmgtfy.com/?q=wigig+dock+lenovo+software+download
        5th one down
    7. James asked on
I am a photographer and looking for a suitable Lenova laptop that would be dedicated to my line of work.
The X1 Carbon has been suggested. In your opinion, would you say that X1 could cope with the downloading of files at outside events and cope with all aspects of file editing including the dispatching of files to media sources. I am also interested in the image quality on screen of the X1.
I thank you in anticipation of any assistance you can give me in the matter.

      1. Kathryn replied on
        Hi James,

While I haven't used it for photo editing, it definitely has the performance to be able to deal with everything you describe. The image quality of the screen is fantastic - I haven't seen anything better (bearing in mind I got the upgraded screen offered, which I would definitely recommend).

        Hope that helps.

    8. Manoj asked on
Hi am trying to install windows 7 -64 bit OS in this laptop but its nnot allowing to do so , Kindly let me know how i can downgrade the OS
      1. Damel replied on
Make a live USB and install it the old fashion way
