"There are several hot notebooks in this category, but I'm giving the nod to the Lenovo IdeaPad U110. The IdeaPad's design nearly moved reviewers to tears-CNET.com called it the most beautiful laptop they've seen in years and Laptop Magazine said it belongs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art."
"Lenovo seems to have come into its own with the IdeaPad series. The $1,249 U330 is polished both inside and out: Not just a solid performer and lightweight travel companion, it offers switchable graphics, facial-recognition software, and stylish design .All in all, the Lenovo IdeaPad U330 is one impressive notebook."
"The new Lenovo IdeaPad U110 shines. That's due in part to its glossy finish, but the specs are what really make this ultraportable laptop a star. Smaller even than its competitor, the MacBook Air, the U110 is a little titan.."
"Charming good looks will attract the Lenovo Faithful who are sick of looking funerary. Excellent business performance will shut up office critics of your "red PC (Harumph!)" Delightfully light and slim."
"I'll be honest though and admit that the Lenovo is grabbed far more often than the HP. You would too in my position, after all why not ride the thoroughbred instead of the pony if you have both."
"The IdeaPad U110's $1,899 price tag may seem expensive to some PC users, but once you get your hands on one of these things its crystal clear that you're getting a truly luxurious notebook that includes lots of options and extras that other manufacturers charge extra for."
"It's a slim and sexy ultraportable notebook that is a full-fledged system...The U110 is a high-end consumer notebook built to the specifications of an ultraportable business machine."
"The IdeaPad U110 is particularly appealing as 11.1" sub-notebook; the main striking thing about the design of IdeaPad U110 is probably the lid, its sizzling red-hot and has sort of florid pattern to it – not anything like we've seen in a notebook before."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad U110 while not a UMPC or a Tablet PC is certainly an intriguing little small device. It is tiny and shiny and with that red cover will certainly stand out in a crowd. And guess what, for security how would you like to try Facial Recognition on for size? Well, that's what you will be able to do if you get your hands on this small device."

"With a focus on the consumer market, Lenovo has announced their new IdeaPad line of notebooks, featuring touch sensitive controls, Dolby Home Theatre Systems, frameless screens, VeriFace for facial recognition, and unique paint textures."
"Other interesting design notes include a backlit logo on the notebook's cover, a 6-in-1 card reader, and a unique drop-style hinge. Perhaps the coolest feature though is the facial recognition system that will allow Windows users to login to their notebook simply by sitting in front of the computer."

Windows® 8 Systems With Downgrade Facilitation Rights (preinstalled Windows 7 downgrade)
Downgrade Facilitation: Systems that are preinstalled with Windows 7 Professional software and also come with a license and media for Windows 8 Pro software may only use one version of the Windows software at a time. Switching between versions requires you to uninstall one version and install the other version.
Downgrade Facilitation: To enable downgrade to Windows 7 on this system, the BIOS settings were changed to boot into legacy BIOS mode. If the BIOS setting is not changed to native UEFI mode boot prior to installing, Windows 8 Pro will install; however, the following Windows 8 Pro functionalities will not work as they rely on a native UEFI mode boot:
- Secure Boot
- Seamless Boot experience
- Network unlock for Bitlocker for systems with a Trusted Platform Module (TPM)
- eDrive support
Please refer to the system packaging or the support website (www.lenovo.com/support) for instructions on how to switch the BIOS mode. Reverting to UEFI mode will require a hard drive reformat and all data and personal settings will be lost. It is highly recommended that you back up your data before you modify any BIOS settings.
