Pure Awesomeness
I just transitioned from a Dell XPS 12 (which was a very good computer) to the Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen3 and I have been very impressed!
Pros;
-The build quality of the X1 is excellent;
-Size to weight ratio is fantastic;
-Keyboard is pure pleasure (no flex and a good key travel);
-Accessories are great (Onelink);
Cons;
-Screen brightness could have been better;
-No SD card (this can be an issue for some but not me);
-Lenovo should have put a full 360deg hinge on this;
-Too much bloatware loaded on this PC from the factory.
This is by far one of the best ultrabooks I have purchased and think Lenovo did an awesome job on the development of the X1.

Lenovo X1 Carbon Review
I have been using this laptop for 10 months now. If it were not for terrible implementation of one particular option I would probably rate this Laptop highly. The touchpad on this computer is the worst I have ever experienced. I have played with the driver versions as well as the many options but to no avail I find it not usable. I am a big advocate of touchpads and this is the first laptop where I was forced to give up and go to a portable mouse. The biggest issue with the touchpad, the cursor jumps around the screen and you find yourself typing in the wrong place. I have played with the many options and have been unable to correct the problem.

Would not buy this!
I have used this for 6 months now. The keyboard is poorly designed so that in the course of composing emails, work, the Ctrl is where most shifts are and thus the email may be partially deleted or fully. The slender size of the computer is great, but anyone can get small weight computers these days for much less! I was so excited to get this Carbon X1, and am really disappointed I paid so much for something that I have to watch so carefully where the curser is as it jumps all over the page as well. No logic to that. Just during the course of writing this review, I found it 5 sentences up without hitting anything on the keyboard! Very annoying!

Do what it's supposed to
I've been so used to Dell's Latitudes, as I have been using it for years(those things are built to last!). using the X1 Carbon is something refreshing and i would say one fine machine. It's quick and boot up fast, light and great for business travels. bright and sharp display, high screen resolution(much more than expected). the things I do not like about it is when waking on LAN seems to take longer than usual, and only 2 USB ports, Well I guess that's what the dock is for! And why remove the integrated Dock port? I think it have enough room in there to accomodate it. but I guess, that's why it is an ultrabook. Otherwise, it is one decent machine.

X1 Carbon 3rd Generation
I've been using an X1 daily for 2 years, just sold my 2nd Generation model and purchased the 3rd Generation for the faster processor and new keyboard. I must say Lenovo got it right on this model. The speed, size and weight are just right for daily carry and a full desktop replacement. The keyboard is even better than before as a spend hours a day making this a critical part of my increased productivity. The screen is bright and using a bit of a hybrid technique between the keyboard, mouse and touchscreen my speed of input has increased. This laptop is my number one working tool as a network consultant and technician.

Can bloatwares be removed easily? Is the recent viral software infected Lenovo been removed from preloaded software from the factory?
From my experience, Lenovo software was always easy to uninstall, however unlike majority of brands Lenovo (continuing on IBM's work), only pre-installs software made by Lenovo and needed by the hardware, i.e. advanced settings for power management, camera, microphone. On their latest models, there are however 1-2 other programs which I would consider bloatware, which I was able to uninstall without any issue.
The recent issue with Lenovo's 'infected' software did not affect their business line as far as I have read.

Can the battery be removed and the system powered externally? I am considering using it in an environment where I cannot charge batteries for safety reasons, but I can power it externally so long as the battery wont get charged.

I have an X1 Carbon with a 256 GB hard drive. This was the largest hard drive offered at the time of purchase. I am now very close to being out of space. Is there an upgrade to 512 GB for this model.
